QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"We really had a ball at the Savoy. That was one of the grandest times the band ever had...We really enjoyed each date in there, because it was just so wonderful."
MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW TO
2002 LINDY CRUISE TO MEXICO!!!
APRIL 19-22, 2002
We are thrilled to tell you all that we will again be a part of the 2002 Lindy Cruise to Mexico, brought to you by DanceFun!!! We were involved in last year's cruise and we can honestly say that it was one of the most enjoyable events we have ever done! The line-up of teachers is fantastic, including ourselves, Erik and Sylvia, Shesha and Terra, Steve Conrad, Melinda Comeau, and Sylvia Sykes!!! And the live music for the nightly dances will be handled by none other than the SWING SESSION! This is a cruise of course, so the dance classes are kept to a manageable amount per day (read "two one-hour classes") to allow for plenty of time to relax, lounge around or whatever. The cost for this outstanding weekend cruise to Ensenada is only $399 per person (plus port and departure taxes) until January 12th. After that the cost increases, so make sure to get your registration filled out NOW...we have loads of registration forms at our classes and events, so just ask for one!!! For more information on this incredible event, click http://dancefun.com/lindy/020419swing&lindycruise/lindycruise_pg1.htm ! Hope to see you onboard!!!
RUSTY AND PETER TO RETURN TO TEACH IN GERMANY!!!
(Rusty and Peter with instructors at the 2001 Boogie-Barens Dance Camp)
Last year, we had the honor of being asked to teach at the prestigious Boogie-Barens dance camp in Munich, Germany. This is one of the largest and best-respected dance camps in the world for swing dancing. Well, we are proud to say that this year, we will be in the line-up again, and we are so excited to see all our old friends again, and looking forward to making new ones! Boogie-Barens is held every year just outside Munich, in the beautiful small village of Landsberg, bringing in instuctors from all across the globe for three incredible days of music and dance! We are so darned excited to be going back this year that we just had to tell you all!! For more details on this great event, click on the official website at http://www.boogie-baeren.de/seminar/main.html !!!
SAVE THE DATE: THIS
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16TH
END-OF-SERIES PARTY...SPECIAL SHOW BY
THE PERFORMANCE CLASS,
BUT PARKING MAY BE TRICKY!
We are rapidly approaching the end of another great four weeks of classes, which means...PARTY!!! After every series, we throw a free party for all our students and friends, and this time is no exception! Make your plans to come down and dance the night away with all of us at Lindy By The Sea. These dances are really loads of fun, always well-attended, free, and all ages! This time around, though, it falls on the same evening that Manhattan Beach is having its Holiday festivities including a grand fireworks display (5:00-7:00pm), so parking will be sort of difficult during that time. So plan on coming to the party, but allow plenty of time to find a parking place (or come early and enjoy the fireworks and a pleasant meal somewhere)! But do plan on coming, as there will be a special show at around 8:30 of the new routine that the Performance Class has been working on for the last several weeks. It has turned out spectacularly well, and we know you will all want to see it!!! (End-Of-Series Party, Sunday December 16th; 7:00pm until 10:00pm; Free and All Ages; at the Neptunian Woman's Club, 920 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach)

*Wondering what the heck
a "gate" is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry
Colona, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob
Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast).
