Ok, Ok, so we finally heard you! After THREE years of students and friends prodding us to do so, we have gotten around to creating some Lindy By The Sea merchandise! We thought you would all be impressed with the speed and efficiency we've shown in this area (hee hee) and now we are proud to offer some really beautiful items for you! WITH NEW CURRICULUM!!!
NEW BALBOA/SHAG BASICS MONDAY NIGHT CLASS!!!
Mark your calendars now for our next series of classes, starting the first Sunday of the new year! And to get the New Year going right, we are streamlining our material on Sundays and Mondays! Our Sunday classes will now be teaching "Lindy Hop", where we will be incorporating Hollywood and Savoy styles immediately, to better prepare everyone for the actual dance floors of Southern California! On Monday nights, our first class of the evening will be Shag and Balboa Basics, a beginner level class in these two extremely popular dances (this class is open to dancers of all levels, from beginners to advanced)!!! And our Featured Class for the month of January will be the Swing Rueda, an exciting new dance made up of swing moves we all know, with lots of partner changing (think of a square dance...but in a circle...to swing music...and kinda cooler... hep'er!)! This dance is springing up all over the world, and we are excited to be offering a class in it so we can all participate in ruedas wherever they may happen!!! So make sure to plan to join us for these great new classes coming up in January! For more details, click on http://swingshiftontap.com/lbs-classes.asp
MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW TO
2002 LINDY CRUISE TO MEXICO!!!
APRIL 19-22, 2002
We are thrilled to tell you all that we will again be a part of the 2002 Lindy Cruise to Mexico, brought to you by DanceFun!!! We were involved in last year's cruise and we can honestly say that it was one of the most enjoyable events we have ever done! The line-up of teachers is fantastic, including ourselves, Erik and Sylvia, Shesha and Terra, Steve Conrad, Melinda Comeau, and Sylvia Sykes!!! And the live music for the nightly dances will be handled by none other than the SWING SESSION! This is a cruise of course, so the dance classes are kept to a manageable amount per day (read "two one-hour classes") to allow for plenty of time to relax, lounge around or whatever. The cost for this outstanding weekend cruise to Ensenada is only $399 per person (plus port and departure taxes) until January 12th. After that the cost increases, so make sure to get your registration filled out NOW...we have loads of registration forms at our classes and events, so just ask for one!!! For more information on this incredible event, click http://dancefun.com/lindy/020419swing&lindycruise/lindycruise_pg1.htm ! Hope to see you onboard!!!
RUSTY PARTIES WITH SOME ENTERTAINMENT GREATS!!!
Rusty was thrilled to be invited to her dear friend Miriam Nelson's annual holiday party, and what a great night it turned out to be! Miriam (who turned 82 recently) is a legendary choreographer and dancer from Hollywood's golden age, and has worked with just about everyone, including stars like Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant!!! The party was attended by the likes of Joan Benny (daughter of radio and TV star Jack Benny) and Nanette Fabray, as well as many other great dancers, singers, directors, producers, and choreographers from the Golden Age of movie musicals and variety television! What a great way to spend an evening!
THE PERFORMANCE CLASS
Sunday night saw the debut of the Performance Class's new routine to the Swing Session's "Diga Diga Doo", and the response was terrific! Everyone in the show gave it their all, and the results were just spectacular! This routine is the first joint choreography for Rusty and Peter, and they were absolutely overjoyed with how it all turned out...far above and beyond their greatest expectations...which were pretty great! The class really took the number and brought it to life, with all the fire and skill of professionals! The crowd went just wild at the end of the performance, and the class themselves were clearly excited with their own work. The weeks of rehearsals in class, as well as the many practice sessions they held on their own, paid off well! We can't wait to see the next show this Wednesday at the Rhythm Club!!!

Rusty and Peter
*Wondering what the heck
a "gate" is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian, Jerry
Colona, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the Bob
Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast).
