"To dance, above all, is to enter into the motions of life.
~ Sherman Paul
It is an action, a movement, a process.
The dance of life is not so much a metaphor as a fact;
to dance is to know oneself alone and to celebrate it."

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
LET'S MAKE IT A GREAT ONE!
The new year begins. What does it mean to all of us? To me, the answer has always been, what we make of it!
I promise to do my very best to fill your year with interesting workshops and classes. I promise to bring in great bands to the Rhythm Club. I'll do my very best to keep our South Bay scene friendly, warm, fun...
Sadly, last year five swing dance venues closed their doors. To make sure this doesn't happen to us, keep dancing! That's the simple answer. To keep our scene alive, it's up to each and every one of us. When given the choice to go out dancing or.... GO OUT DANCING! Always remind yourself that this swing dance resurgence could vanish as quickly as it appeared. Corny as it sounds, make it your New Years Resolution to go out dancing. Take classes that interest you. Be part of keeping the scene alive.
AND, bring in new people. That's the second most important thing you can do to keep the scene alive. Tonite we have the beginner's class at the Rhythm Club -- invite a friend or two and show them what all this fun is about. The new series is starting this Sunday, why not get one of your pals to join -- take it with them! (remember the $10 series 1, 2, 3 for Level 4 students)
If I haven't scared you yet, remember, if there is no swing dancing YOU'LL HAVE TO JOIN A GYM OR START JOGGING!!!!!! Oooooohhhhhhh....
HOW MUCH DOES ALL THIS COST?
I have endeavored to keep all the prices down these past years even as my expenses went up. You'll be happy to know that all prices for classes remain the same! The Rhythm Club band nite cover charge will remain at $12. I have only raised the DJ nite from $7.00 to $8.00. This will begin tonite. Thanks, as always, for your support and understanding.
NOTE: If you are unable to afford the Rhythm Club or Lindy By The Sea classes for any reason, please let me or Glenn know so we can have you come in on "The Plan". Just a reminder that "The Plan" is FREE or whatever you can afford. I know that during bad financial times, dancing is needed more than ever for your morale. So come along and then just start paying when you can.

what the heck a "gate"is? This was a phrase popularized by 1940's comedian,
Jerry Colonna, who would holler it out every time he was introduced on the
Bob Hope radio program. It was a friendly salutation to a swing cat (dancer
or swing music enthusiast).
